We’re spending more and more time on our phones. Not only are they the obvious – a way to chat and connect with family and friends – but for some of us they’re our diary, address book, newspaper, search engine and if you’re in the midst of planning your Big Day, a wedding planning tool. So many of us swipe and scroll as we’re on the way home from work on the bus or even in front of the telly in the evening so naturally those of us tying the knot, use them to plan our wedding. To make life even easier for couples, clever techies have created some genius apps that will come in handy on the lead up to the Big Day from Spotify (great for researching wedding tunes and creating an after-party playlist) to Pinterest and Instagram for the prettiest inspiration and specific wedding apps to help take the pain out of planning. We asked Declan Bourke, founder of Your Wedding Planner to share a few of the most useful wedding planning apps for engaged couples. Check out his 4 top picks below…
1. Pinterest
Starting right from the beginning – a go-to app for most of you – it’s Pinterest! For those of you who haven’t tried it yet, let me introduce you to one of the greatest virtual wedding scrapbooks. Yes, just like a scrapbook, Pinterest allows you to collect images and to bookmark the website or blog post where you found them. Pinterest is great when it comes to finding that little bit of inspiration for your big day, and who doesn’t need something to organise everything we come across while browsing the internet for wedding ideas? Try it! Pinterest should really be the first wedding app that you download once you’re ‘engaged’ – get your wedding related pin boards set up and start pinning the things you love!
2. Your Wedding Planner
Your Wedding Planner is a simple, free app to help you plan your perfect wedding day. Keep track of your to-do list and manage your budget, guest list, samples, vendors and more at any time, anywhere. Have a huge guest list? No problem – simply import any guests from the contact list on your smartphone! The app is absolutely FREE and even in bad coverage, you can still access all of the features – it works offline – and it offers shared partner accounts so that couples can edit on their own smartphones and see live updates! If you’re a big social media fan or blogger, you’ll love this app even more. Get notifications on key milestones in the run-up to your big day and click to share them as a countdown clock on social media. Have a question? Join the app’s built in blog and forum to get chatting with other nearly-wed couples. Download it here:

3. Wed Pics
Not so keen on sharing your wedding photos all over social media? Still want to collect all of the un-edited, silly photos collected by your guests? Wed Pics is the app for you. Simply sign up, invite guests by sharing your ID (or leave a little card on each table) and have your guests share your wedding snaps. Some of your guests don’t have a smartphone, right? No problem! They can still snap away and upload their photos to the Wed Pics website using the wedding ID you gave them.
4. Top Table Planner
So you’ve sent the invites, received the RSVPs – now comes the easy bit, setting the table plan (okay, not so easy!). If you’ve already started, you’ll know how stressful and boring table planning in excel or on paper can be. If you haven’t already started this enjoyable task – download Top Table Planner – trust me, it’s a life saver! How does it work you ask? Well, simply copy and paste in your list of guests, drag and drop them onto tables and wahey – problem solved! It’s inevitable that you will have a few grumpy guests with last minute seating issues, so this way you can edit as you please, until you’re happy (or they are!). Finally, click print and pass the stress on to your wedding venue!
